Wilderness First Aid

In nature, help is not always close by. When the nearest hospital is an hour or more away, your knowledge makes the difference. Wilderness First Aid prepares you to recognise, treat and manage injuries and sudden illness far from organised medical care.

The programme
It is aimed at climbers, hikers, mountain guides, outdoor instructors and anyone who moves or works in remote areas. The programme is based on the manual Wilderness First Aid: Emergency Care in Remote Locations and combines theory with hands-on practice in realistic scenarios.
Topics include: management of wounds and bleeding, shock, spinal and limb injuries, splinting, and treatment in conditions where evacuation is delayed.

The certifying body
Emergency Care & Safety Institute
ECSI (Emergency Care & Safety Institute) is an international organisation for training in first aid, CPR and safety, with more than 150,000 trainees every year worldwide. Its programmes are developed in partnership with two of the most reputable medical organisations, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), which provide the medical direction and stand behind the training content. Its certifications are internationally recognised.

Do I need any prior knowledge?
For most programmes, no — they start from zero. Where a prerequisite exists, the programme itself says so: the Basic Instructor Course, for example, requires an active ERC BLS or PBLS certification.
The programme I want has no scheduled session. What do I do?

Do you train schools and groups?
Yes. We offer free training to schools of every level and to the community, and through the Double Score programme a school can earn a free defibrillator. For a training at your own venue, write to us at info@lifesupporthub.edu.gr.
How does the asynchronous training platform work?
Two programmes — C-TECC for First Responders and ECSI Wilderness First Aid — include an asynchronous component on our training platform. After registering you receive an email with your login details, and the platform holds your material and programme instructions.
