Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

Life Support Hub trains people to keep someone alive until help arrives. The website that explains how has no reason to shut anyone out.

We work to keep our content and our forms usable with a keyboard, with magnification, with a screen reader and at sufficient colour contrast — without anyone having to ask us for it first.

2. What this statement covers

It covers the lifesupporthub.edu.gr website in both of its language versions, Greek and English.

It does not cover content we do not control: the training platform (training.lifesupporthub.edu.gr), which runs on separate software, the certifying bodies' own websites, Google Maps, and our social media profiles.

3. Conformance status

We target WCAG 2.1 level AA, as incorporated by the European standard EN 301 549.

We declare partial conformance. The audits of 23 August and 2 September 2026 found no barrier on the pages and journeys tested, but our forms embed a third-party security check and no independent audit has been carried out. The known exceptions are in section 5.

4. What holds today

These are not intentions — they hold, and they are checked:

• Colour contrast: every text-on-background pairing is tested automatically on every change to the code, in both the light and the dark theme. A pairing that falls below the AA threshold never reaches the page.
• Keyboard navigation: every page opens with a “Skip to content” link, every element that takes focus shows a visible outline, and focus order follows reading order. The programme disclosures open from the keyboard — and from the browser's own find-in-page (Ctrl/Cmd+F), because they are built from the browser's own machinery.
• Forms: on the registration, interest and Double Score forms, every field has a permanent label and, where it helps, a hint tied to the field. Error messages are announced to screen readers as they appear, rather than silently recolouring a border.
• Motion: every animation stops when your operating system asks for reduced motion. Nothing plays sound on its own, and the testimonial strip carries its own pause button.
• Touch targets: buttons and controls — including the two primary actions on every page — are at least 44×44 pixels on a phone. Links inside a sentence, and the two policy links in the footer, are smaller, with enough space around them that the neighbour cannot be hit by mistake — which is the standard's own bar for text links.
• Language: every page declares its language, and the language switch is announced in the language it leads to — because whoever needs that control does not, by definition, read the language on screen.

5. Known limitations

• The security check on our forms. All four forms on the site — registration, interest, Double Score and the newsletter sign-up — pass through Cloudflare Turnstile, which protects them from automated submissions. Its interface is provided by Cloudflare and we cannot modify it. If it blocks you, send us your registration, your request or your sign-up by phone or email — details in section 6.
• The newsletter sign-up in the footer. Its email field shows its name only as text inside the box, which disappears once you start typing. Screen readers announce it correctly; a permanent visible label would be better, and it is on our list. The security check described above appears here once you touch the email field, not before — so that it does not load on every page of the site.
• Articles and activities. These are written by us and published through the site's admin. Heading order and an image's alternative text depend on the author, so an older piece may have gaps. Tell us which one and we will fix it.
• Video. No presentation video has been published yet. When one is, it will carry captions in both Greek and English — that is binding in our production guide, not an aspiration.
• Links to third parties. Maps, social networks and the certifying bodies' websites have their own accessibility, which we do not control.
• The cookie message. Until you answer it, the message stays fixed to the bottom of the screen and can cover content — possibly including a field or button down there. It leaves for good as soon as you choose "Accept" or "Decline", and both buttons are reachable by keyboard. The standard we target (WCAG 2.1) does not count this as a failure — the criterion concerned was added in version 2.2 — but we record it because it is real and easily fixed.

6. Tell us if something blocks you

If any part of this site stops you doing what you came to do, we want to know. You do not need to know the technical term for it.

It helps if you tell us which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what you are using (a screen reader, or a keyboard only, for example). We reply within five working days.

And in any case: you can register for a seminar by phone or by email. The form is one way, not the only way.

7. How this was assessed

Self-assessment, on 23 August 2026. It covered automated accessibility testing of the home page, the Training Programmes page and the registration page (on desktop and on mobile), and a manual keyboard pass over two journeys: choosing a seminar through to submitting the registration, and the programme catalogue.

On 2 September 2026 a supplementary code review was carried out, covering only the cookie message, which was added after the first assessment. It looked at keyboard navigation, focus order, button size and colour contrast. It was narrower than the 23 August audit: the automated testing was not repeated, and the message was not tested with a screen reader.

No independent audit and no testing with users of assistive technology has been carried out yet. When it is, it will be reported here.

8. Legal framework

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) was transposed into Greek law by Law 4994/2022 and has applied since 28 June 2025. The reference standard is EN 301 549, which adopts the WCAG guidelines.
