Saving lives, strengthening the community: a defibrillator donation in Agios Dimitrios

Saving lives, strengthening the community: a defibrillator donation in Agios Dimitrios

With a sense of responsibility, Life Support Hub successfully completed an open awareness event on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), held on Thursday 16 October at the 13th and 21st Primary Schools of Agios Dimitrios, on the occasion of World Restart a Heart Day.

The activity is part of our mission: to equip citizens with knowledge and skills that can prove vital in a sudden cardiac arrest incident. The existence of trained citizens in the community significantly increases the chances of survival, turning everyone into a potential rescuer.

The support of local government

The event was held under the auspices of the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios, in cooperation with the Municipality's Education Department, the Teachers' Association and the Parents' and Guardians' Association of the two schools.

We were honoured by the presence of the Deputy Mayor for Education and Cultural Development, Mrs Angeliki Saravelaki, who expressed the Municipality's full support for strengthening the safety and training of citizens in first aid. Also present were the founder of the non-profit Life Support Hub, Mr Evangelos Karagiannis, our education team, as well as representatives of the Teachers' and Parents' & Guardians' Associations.

The highlight: a defibrillator donation to the schools

As the culmination of our commitment to the safety of the school community and the neighbourhood, Life Support Hub donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the 13th and 21st Primary Schools.

The defibrillator is an essential rescue tool: when used immediately by a trained person, it can reverse cardiac arrest. Its placement in the schools makes the area safer, not only for the students and teachers, but for the wider community of Agios Dimitrios.

Life Support Hub will continue its activities, training, raising awareness and equipping communities with the necessary means to save lives. We thank everyone for their participation and support.
