Free first aid training in schools — and a defibrillator left behind

Every year, thousands of children spend their days in classrooms, playgrounds, and gyms where, if something goes wrong, the first few minutes decide everything. At Life Support Hub, we believe that these minutes should not be a matter of luck. That is why we offer free first aid training to schools of every level — from kindergarten to high school — and to the wider community.

What the free training includes

Our free, non-certified talks give a first, general overview of first aid. They introduce participants to the basic steps of responding to a medical emergency, so that they can make the crucial difference until specialised help arrives.

The programme is adapted to the age of the participants, and this is where the essence lies: a six-year-old and a seventeen-year-old do not learn the same thing in the same way.

For younger children, from kindergarten to the 2nd grade of primary school, we created a special presentation lasting about one hour. The children learn health education and the first, simple concepts — how and when we call 112, what we do and what we don't — by following their friend, Savvy.

From the 5th grade of primary school and up, as well as for adults, the programme becomes more substantial and lasts about three hours, with two breaks in between. It covers:

• Introduction to basic life support — CPR, recovery position, choking
• Recognition of and actions in acute myocardial infarction
• Recognition of stroke using the FAST method
• Recognition and management of an epileptic seizure
• Burns
• Nosebleeds and bleeding
• Insect stings and acute allergic reaction
• Sunstroke, heatstroke, and heat exhaustion

From knowledge to equipment: the Double Score programme

The free talk is the starting point. For schools that want to take the next step, we created something that does not exist anywhere else in Greece: Double Score.

The idea is simple. Knowledge saves lives, but equipment is the means. With Double Score, the school or club invests in the certified training of its members — and in return receives, free of charge, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), worth hundreds of euros, which stays permanently on its premises.

In practice, the programme is carried out through one of the following training courses, or a combination of them:

For middle and high school students (over 14 years old): a complete seminar for 100 students, at €15 per student.

For teachers and parents: a seminar for 50 adults — teachers, professors, parents, staff — at €30 per person.

In every case, all participants receive official international certification in Basic Life Support from the European Resuscitation Council, the most authoritative body of its kind in Europe. Once the goal is met, the defibrillator is delivered to the school.

It's not a promise — it's already happening

Since October 2025, four schools today have a defibrillator in their hallways that they did not have before:

• 13th & 21st Primary Schools of Agios Dimitrios — October 2025
• 2nd Primary School of Elliniko — December 2025
• 3rd Primary School of Argyroupoli — May 2026

Each of these deliveries is a point in its area where, if needed, there are now both trained hands and the right equipment.

Who it's for

Double Score is not only about schools. It is aimed at public and private schools of all levels, at sports clubs and academies, at tutoring centres and foreign language schools, as well as at cultural associations — everywhere, that is, where people gather and where a defibrillator can one day make the difference.
